PROCAD (Calgary, CANADA) has released 3DSMART V2007, the latest version of its multidimensional 3D design software.

The new V2007 release builds on V2005 and features numerous improvements. It is now compatible with AutoCAD 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, as well as with SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Express 2005. It includes general improvements across the software including user interface and functionality enhancements, a simplified installation process, and an improved ISOGEN interface. In addition, there will be full integration with the Component Designer, which is to be released in Q1 of 2007.

3DSMART comes standard with all the following modules: Project Manager, Specification Manager, Modeler, BOM Settings Manager, and BOM Generator. It includes libraries for ANSI piping, structural steel, shared components, equipment and engines, and compressors. The software is database driven, which means that anytime a component is placed in your model it’s automatically stored in the database as well. 3DSMART automatically produces 2D deliverables, including plans, sections and isometrics.

3DSMART is available in specialized editions. The Personal Edition is value-oriented and intended for a single user on a standalone computer. The software includes a basic built-in Project Manager and connects to the included SQL Server Express 2005 database. The Business Edition offers project management tools for a single user or multiple user environments. This edition can be connected to the included SQL Server Express 2005 database, or connected to a SQL server 2000 or 2005 database.
