Creaform (Levis, QC) has announced a new plug-in that uses the Geomagic API from Raindrop Geomagic(Research Triangle Park, NC) to provide real-time processing andgraphics display of physical objects as they are captured by thecompany’s new HandyScan 3D optical measurement system.
The Creaform plug-in interactively processes and displays a shadedmodel as a physical object is captured by the Handyscan 3D system. Thisenables the operator to see exactly what has been scanned, resulting inmore complete data capture. The plug-in fully integrates Handyscan 3Dwith Geomagic Qualify and Geomagic Studio for digital shape samplingand processing.
HandyScan 3D is the first self-positioned scanner. The hand-held systemis very portable, weighing only two pounds. It establishes positioningfrom targets placed on the object being scanned. A unique crosshairlaser system containing two high-definition cameras captures data.Accuracy is up to 0.25mm and 0.1mm in resolution.
The Geomagic API enables any optical measurement system to integrateseamlessly with Geomagic software and interactively create surfacemodels from points captured in real-time.
