Planit Holdings(Ashford-Kent, UK), which is made up of companies involved in the CAD/CAMsoftware development industry, has acquired CAM software company Pathtrace (Berkshire, UK), continuing with a strategy of CAM consolidation.
Planit says it is hoping the addition of Pathtrace to the group willprovide a major development in the engineering arena. The group’sleading brands already include alphacam, cabinet vision, cabnetware,and radan.
“This is a further reinforcement of our commitment tothis market sector,” says Planit Chief Operating Officer Bryan Pryce.“Pathtrace’s principal product line, EdgeCAM is a well respected andhighly capable offline programming system, which complements ourexisting strengths in the engineering sector. But just as importantly,with offices in the UK, US, China and Japan and a global distributionnetwork—Pathtrace provides important additional routes to market forall our group’s CAM products.
“Overall, Pathtrace provides anexcellent fit with existing group companies, which will enable us tosignificantly increase our share of the $1.2 billion globalmanufacturing software market,” says Pryce.
