Pasternack Launches New Waveguide Detectors

The devices can be used in industries such as aerospace, defense and consumer products.

Pasternack, a supplier of RF (radio frequency) microwave and millimeter wave products, have launched a new collection of waveguide detectors. These detectors are high performance, zero biased and are suited for Ka, Q, U, V, E and W frequency bands. They are deployed in aerospace, defense and commercial wireless industries for applications such as instrumentation, power detection, power monitoring, direct detection receivers and R&D.

The company is offering the detectors in 6 models that cover a frequency range of 26.5 to 110GHz. Input ports are available in sizes from WR-28 and WR-10, and video output ports utilize SMA female connectors. The designs, according to the company, perform with minimal sensitivity variation that results in a flat frequency response across the entire waveguide band.

“This selection of waveguide detectors utilize high performance GaAs Schottky Barrier Beam lead diodes that exhibit high sensitivity performance in Ka, Q, U, V, E and W bands without external DC bias or mechanical tuning,” says Tim Galla, Active Components product manager at Pasternack. “Designers will find them particularly useful for applications which involve instrumentation, power detection, power monitoring and direct detection receiver applications.”
