OpenBOM, a software-as-a-servce digital network-based platform, makes available new OpenBOM’s advanced data management Bill of Materials and purchasing functions for Autodesk Fusion 360 customers. The release brings the power of OpenBOM to the Autodesk Fusion 360 user community via the extension of Fusion 360 data management functions.
“The OpenBOM Extension for Autodesk Fusion 360 demonstrates the extensibility of Autodesk manufacturing applications via our Forge Manufacturing Services. It seamlessly extends Fusion 360’s data management capabilities by providing flexible and easily configurable options to create a Bill of Materials, to manage Parts, Vendors and Purchasing Orders,” says Stephen Hooper, general manager of Autodesk Fusion 360. “Autodesk Fusion 360 and Forge for Manufacturing along with OpenBOM puts your data exactly where you want it—in the context of the application and making the best use of data in connected applications.”
OpenBOM for Autodesk Fusion 360 provides a number of enhancements in the recent release expanding functionality to bidirectional data exchange with Fusion 360, to support advanced calculations for a variety of roll-ups such as cost, mass and to provide a simple way to plan materials and part purchases.
“The entire experience of bi-drectional data exchange between OpenBOM and Autodesk Fusion 360 expose a set of new seamless data workflows and data handovers to simplify data management and to make OpenBOM extending Fusion 360 data management and collaboration,” says OpenBOM CEO and co-founder Oleg Shilovitsky.
The one-click BOM leads users down a much improved user experience of creating and maintaining a BOM. OpenBOM allows integration and data capturing from Autodesk Fusion 360 and simplifies data handover in cost estimation, planning and purchasing.
“My client was stuck and needed someone to take their design data and turn it into a manufacturing Bill of Materials,” says Brian Kraut of Florida’s EA Manufacturing, so he turned to Fusion 360 and OpenBOM. “The material types, thicknesses and other part properties also came through into OpenBOM literally saving me hours of time specifying material properties for each part. Having Multi-Level product structure is great!”
Brining the manufacturing information downstream is another important data workflow handover process OpenBOM enables you to support. OpenBOM allows easy and instant data sharing with the team and across multiple teams.
“As a manufacturing business, I value how OpenBOM brings my manufacturing information exactly where I need it, in my Fusion 360 design window. I have a lot of customer variations to keep track of and we are all about time and accuracy here and OpenBOM easily updates each BOM with a single click,” says Colorado based Durango Driveline President Michael Whitcomb. “By keeping all my parts and supplier information in OpenBOM I can plan my inventory and generate PO’s as needed.”
