Open Design Alliance (ODA), provider of CAD and BIM interoperability solutions, announced today the addition of real-time shadow support to Visualize, its Software Development Kit (SDK) for 2D and 3D engineering graphics applications.
ODA Visualize SDK is used by companies worldwide to incorporate high-performance visualization of open and proprietary engineering formats such as .dwg, Autodesk Revit files, IFC and Autodesk Navisworks files. Visualize can also be used to view custom 2D and 3D data for disciplines such as finite element analysis (FEA).
The new shadow support in Visualize adds realism to generated scenes. Shadows are updated in real time as the view position within the scene changes to support high-quality animation.
Visualize includes configuration options for light source types, default lighting and per-entity control of shadows, as well as options such as Gaussian blur.
“Visualization is a key part of interoperability for a majority of ODA members,” says Neil Peterson, ODA president. “During the past twelve months, more and more members have been dropping their expensive third-party graphics solutions and switching to ODA Visualize. The improved realism of our new shadow support makes the choice to switch even easier.”
Availability and Pricing
Visualize is available to all ODA members as part of a standard ODA membership, with no additional fee required. It can be downloaded by members at opendesign.com. Pricing and details for all ODA membership levels can be found at opendesign.com/pricing.
A free 60-day trial version is available for non-members.
