NovaCopy Offers 3D Printer Training

Let’s say you are absolutely positive your business could profit from having an additive manufacturing (AM) systems onsite, but you don’t know the first thing about the technology. Many service providers and consultants could work with you to recommend what you need. One reseller has formalized its training into an educational course.

NovaCopy, an AM system reseller located in the southern United States, now offers hands-on 3D printer training. Each class runs for about three hours and offers introductory information about 3D printing. Registration normally costs $500, but NovaCopy is offering a reduced price for the first few classes at $299.

 “There is a tremendous need on the part of the user or buyer to really understand what they’re buying,” NovaCopy’s Melissa Ragsdale told The Tennessean. “They are interested in it and they think it’s cool, but they’re a little afraid. They’re not really sure they know how to use the equipment.”

NovaCopy intends to offer educational services alongside its normal sale operations. The preferred scenario would be a new customer orders an AM system, has it installed, and enrolls in a class to learn how to use the new equipment.

Each three-hour class is broken into three segments. The first hour covers the basics of 3D printing, including how the technology works. The second hour will teach students how to setup a new 3D printer, and the basics of designing and printing a digital object. The last hour will cover potential applications for AM, and take a look at the future of 3D printing.

Courses will begin on October 22, and NovaCopy expects a serious demand for seats. The morning class on the 22 is already listed as full. Even if you can’t make it to a NovaCopy event, it seems likely that more executive classes focused on AM will pop up over the next few years. Deloitte already offered a MOOC on the subject, and you are bound to find classes at technical institutes.
