Free update for 2.x clients includes interactive rendering.

Next Limit has announced the release of Maxwell Render version 2.5. This free update for Maxwell Render 2.x clients includes many improvements and new features, according to the company. These include:

  • New Maxwell Fire interactive technology is available inside plug-ins and Maxwell Studio
  • Sub-surface scattering improvements in both quality and performance
  • Numerous workflow improvements including new scripting functions, new command line options and parameters, and networking improvements especially for running animations.
  •  

The most significant new feature in version 2.5 is Maxwell Fire, an interactive tool that provides instant results while setting up a scene. Now Maxwell Render users can preview scene lighting and materials in seconds, according to Next Limit. 

Maxwell Fire is compatible with all Maxwell Render materials and features, CPU based,  and is available at no extra cost for Maxwell Render 2.x clients.

Next Limit is rolling out Maxwell Fire in Maxwell Studio, and the plug-ins for Maya, 3dsMax, Rhino, SolidWorks and Modo (BETA version).
