Mobile World Congress America 2017:

We move grown a lot since our obsession with Angry Birds, noted GSMA’s director general Mats Granryd in his keynote. In app usage, “We have moved on since. We’re now talking about WebChat, Messenger, Instagram, SnapChat—the list keeps going. Counting steps also become our obsession with the introduction of Fitbit.”

“Today, there’s more than 8 billions connections globally. Nearly 1.2 billions of those are located in the Americas region. That number is said to grow to 1.4 billions by 2020. Within the Americas, and also globally, North America stands out to be an early adopter of technologies.”

“Industry IoT, we believe, will grow faster than consumer IoT, fueled by enterprise adoption.”

“Chatbots, smart agents, and smart personal assistants” are signs of the growth of AI in our daily life.

The premiere event is the outcome of a partnership between GSMA, representing 800 operators with almost 300 companies in the mobile commerce space, and CTIA, representing the U.S. wireless communications industry and the companies. GSMA publishes an annual report that outlines the organization’s initiatives and outlook.
