Mentor Graphics Announces Frontloading CFD Award Winners

This award recognizes exceptional applications of FloEFD technology.

Mentor Graphics has revealed the winners of its first annual Frontloading Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Award. This award recognizes individuals who have successfully implemented the practice of moving CFD simulation early into their design process using Mentor Graphics’ FloEFD technology.

Entrants were required to demonstrate the application of frontloading CFD with quantifiable results through published or publicly presented documentation. This included published technical and conference papers, PowerPoint presentations, articles, videos and/or website content that is accessible to the public, a company press release states.

The first place award winner is Dr. Aihua Wang, thermal engineer, automotive lighting at Magneti Marelli for her presentation delivered at IESF in 2015 titled, Integrating Thermal Analysis into Automotive Lighting Product Design. She received a glass trophy and a $1,500 cash prize which will be donated in her name to her chosen charity, the ASPCA.

This year’s joint runners-up include Kolio Kojouharo and Georg Jäger. Both received a prize of $500 and a glass trophy.

“Mentor Graphics has been a driving force in promoting frontloading CFD and our award-winning FloEFD technology has been instrumental in optimizing the performance of products while saving critical design time,” said Roland Feldhinkel, general manager of Mentor Graphics Mechanical Analysis Division. “I congratulate our 2016 winners of the FloEFD Frontloading CFD award and I am impressed by their efforts in improving workflow productivity in manufactured products.”
