Mentor Graphics has acquired XS Embedded GmbH (XSe), a provider of automotive system architectures and hardware reference platforms. This transaction allows Mentor to expand its automotive portfolio, the company states.
XSe has over ten years of experience in automotive electronics design and brings a pioneering approach to accelerate system design and verification. The company provides Tier 1 suppliers with reference platforms that approach A-sample quality. XSe also offers automotive-grade hardware and software to reduce time to standard operating procedure, improve architectural optimization, partition software and reduce design costs.
According to a company press release, Mentor now plans to address cross-functional collaboration needs in the trend towards integration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Driver Information and Infotainment domains.
“XS Embedded is recognized for its deep automotive domain expertise and unique IP including the AXSB automotive-ready reference board and software modules,” said Glenn Perry, general manager, Embedded System Division, Mentor Graphics. “The hardware design and architecture expertise of XS Embedded combined with Mentor’s extensive automotive technology suite, including Android, Linux, AUTOSAR, Security and Hypervisor solutions, provides greater flexibility while also reducing the time to SOP.”
