Mellanox Technologies announced CloudX, a reference architecture for building efficient cloud platforms. CloudX is based on the Mellanox OpenCloud architecture, which leverages off-the-shelf components of servers, storage, interconnect and software to form flexible and cost-effective public, private and hybrid clouds, the company says. The solution leverages Mellanox’s high speed interconnect solutions at 40 and 56Gb/s and has the ability to use open source-based software such as OpenStack.
“Cloud is becoming the most important technology in the data center, and future applications must run on the most efficient cloud with the best interconnect,” said Gilad Shainer, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox CloudX is built around Mellanox’s 56Gb/s InfiniBand and Ethernet Virtual Protocol Interconnect solutions, enabling the fastest data transfer and effective utilization of compute, storage and Flash components to allow companies to develop new applications with unbounded cloud performance.”
