Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. has announced that its IS5000 line of 108 and 324-port modular 40Gb/s InfiniBand switches are now available through IBM’s iDataPlex and Intelligent Cluster product lines. Mellanox’s switch systems, in combination with its ConnectX-2 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters, offer IBM customers I/O infrastructure performance and scalability for data centers, cloud, Web 2.0 and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.

“IBM is delivering solutions that maximize application performance and also meet the requirements for infrastructure economics and green initiatives,” says David Turek, vice president,  Deep Computing at IBM. “Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand switches complement our Intelligent Cluster and iDataPlex products, providing our customers designing large HPC systems, clouds and virtualized data centers with industry-leading scalability, performance, and economics.”

The IS5100 108-port and IS5300 324-port switches were built using Mellanox’s fourth generation InfiniScale IV InfiniBand switch device, and provide up to 40Gb/s fully,  non-blocking, bidirectional bandwidth per port with 300ns port-to-port latency.

Available today, Mellanox’s full line of ConnectX-2 single and dual-port 40Gb/s InfiniBand and 10GigE adapter cards, and 36, 108, 216, 324 and 648-port 40Gb/s InfiniBand switch systems are available from IBM.
