Former chief strategy officer promoted in wake of Stratasys merger.

MakerBot announced the promotion of Jennifer Lawton to president.  Lawton previously held the title of chief strategy officer. She has been with MakerBot since 2011 and has been responsible for the overall strategy and growth of the company, including strategic partnerships, product development, and retail, the company says.

Her promotion to president is in conjunction with the acquisition announcement by MakerBot and Stratasys on June 19.  Under the proposed merger with Stratasys, MakerBot will remain an independent brand and the company will continue to be managed by its current leadership team, headed by Bre Pettis, CEO and co-founder, and Lawton.

“Jenny is a huge asset to MakerBot,” Pettis said. “She’s my right-hand. Without Jenny we wouldn’t be where we are today. She has helped lead us to the next exciting phase for MakerBot. And she is building an infrastructure that helps the team innovate, invent and improve on a daily basis.”

Lawton will be tasked with overseeing the integration of the proposed merger for MakerBot, growing the company and managing a six-member leadership team managing products, sales, marketing, technology, finance and manufacturing operations.
