MachineWorks v7.4 Announced

Updates include a hybrid manufacturing process simulation environment and a new sampling engine.

MachineWorks, a provider of CNC (computer numerically controlled) simulation solutions, has released MachineWorks 7.4. Among the many new features are hybrid machine tool simulation, higher quality surface finishing and greater accuracy of visual representation.

Hybrid machine tool simulation lets users configure both additive and subtractive manufacturing simulations in a single environment. With more hybrid CNC machines coming to market, the company has also added capabilities for material deposition simulation as well.

Version 7.4 also includes a finished surface quality thanks to a new algorithm for 5-axis swept volume generation. According to the company, the MachineWorks development team has managed to achieve both higher quality and faster performance in 5-axis simulation without compromising on accuracy or stability with the 5-axis algorithm. This algorithm allows for more flexible quality optimization, a company press release states.

The software also has a newly updated sampling engine for greater accuracy of graphical representation via ray-tracing.
