Kubotek3D announced the 1.2 release of the Kubotek K‑Compare line of CAD file validation and K‑Display MCAD visualization software introduced last fall. This release provides updates to CATIA and NX CAD file translators and several new functions for each product.
Updated CAD Translators
Reading other CAD/CAM software across both 1.2 Kubotek software programs has been updated with the latest versions of two major CAD file formats: Siemens NX 1847, 1851 and CATIA R29 (V5-6R2019). K‑Display View 1.2 also adds new support for Building Information Modeling (BIM) data stored in the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) file format: IFC version 2x3, 2x4.
K-Display View Features Added
The 1.2 release adds two new measurement functions to K‑Display View or engineering or production cost estimation. The first new function analyzes 3D models of plastic parts to find areas that are difficult or impossible to create with a simple mold strategy. The other new measurement function supports quick overall measurements of the envelope of selected 3D models by wrapping them with temporary solids. A third new function adds a simple cutting plane function that allows users to easily visualize the interior sections of complex parts.
K-Compare Validate Features Added
The PMI annotation (3D feature control frames) comparison in K‑Compare Validate 1.2 has received an upgrade to include testing of the associative connection to model faces and semantic style testing of the tolerance type and values within control frame. The ability to quickly measure the angle between edges of a model has also been added. A final new feature allows users comparing a large batch of files to easily line up corresponding pairs of files into horizontal rows to simplify visualization.
