INUS Technology, Inc. has launched InvisHands, a new tool that it says automates the process of creating complete CAD models from 3D scan data.
InvisHands is an option for reverse engineering models of physical parts. The service allows users of 3D scanning technology to focus on data capture, and offload the post-processing work to InvisHands. Users can get an instant quote and delivery time information for the conversion of a 3D scanned object to a CAD model via the InvisHands App.
According to the company, there are four steps to get any 3D scan converted to a CAD model with InvisHands:
- Download and install the InvisHands App.
- Open a 3D scan file and select your output preferences to see pricing and delivery options.
- Click start project. The data will be uploaded to the InvisHands server, converted to a CAD model by InvisHands engineers, and returned to within the guaranteed delivery time.
- Once you receive the email that the CAD model is ready, review it in the InvisHands App, and if satisfied, click complete order to download the file and complete payment.
Input files can be polygon meshes from any 3D scanner that have been aligned and merged into a single file. Data is processed using Rapidform, and output options include:
- Native part files for SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, Siemens NX, CATIA or AutoCAD
- Parasolid, IGS or STP format
- Optimized polygon mesh files suitable for 3D printing or engineering simulation/analysis
The beta release of InvisHands is now available for download at www.invishands.com.
