PSSC Labs announces that its PowerWulf ZXR1+ High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster has been installed at more than 2,000 sites in 36 countries. The company says the cluster is a custom-designed, application-optimized, and production-ready HPC cluster solution with the lowest total cost of ownership, “but the highest level of security and reliability.”

PSSC Labs says the PowerWulf ZXR1+ cluster is compatible with hundreds of popular applications including market leaders like OpenFOAM, Ansys Fluent, Comsol Multiphysics, Matlab, and WRF.

Recognizing the large increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in engineering, the company says this cluster is built to support both Nvidia and AMD GPUs designed for AI/ML.

PSSC Labs says each cluster is assembled to order, matching the customer’s specific component requirements. The company uses both Intel and AMD CPUs, and both AMD and Nvidia GPUs. Other key components are Intel Omnipath and Mellanox High Speed Network interconnects, and best-in-class Flash and Non-Volatile Memory Express storage.

PSSC says it includes a complete cluster management toolkit with each installation. This includes the operating system; the message passing interface; a batch scheduler; all required open source and commercial compilers; a monitoring utility; temperature monitoring with auto shutdown; cluster node image updating and propagation; and all relevant scientific libraries (depending on intended application).

“I will continue to recommend PSSC as our HPC provider,” says Michael Acierno, the IT/IS Manager at Carnegie Institute of Science. “I think there is great benefit to working with a single vendor during the lifetime of a cluster. In the end, time, frustration, and costs are usually minimized.”

PowerWulf ZXR1+ HPC clusters are now available direct from California-based PSSC Labs, built to order based on customer specifications.
