HP Launches Helion Managed Services for Cloud Storage

Enterprises can create a hybrid delivery model for private and public cloud solutions.

Hewlett-Packard has introduced its HP Helion Managed Storage, a cloud offering that helps reduce cost and increase operational efficiency, the company states. The available options include a hybrid delivery model for private, virtual private and public cloud solutions.

The customizable offerings include options for block, file and object storage and backup services with HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage and HP StoreOnce systems. There is also the choice of creating an application with a price-per-Gigabyte model.

With block storage, organizations can have a storage area network for applications and databases that require high-performance options. File storage enables network-attached storage that provides file-level storage for data accessed via internet protocol.

“While HP has  offered a managed consumption base model for over 14 years,  our new HP Helion Managed Services offering gives customers an increased level of control over their managed services and IT resources at a significant cost savings,” said Jim Fanella, vice president, Workload and Cloud, HP Enterprise Services. “Our Helion offerings are unique from other industry services due to the simplification of file management and interface, performance scalability options and availability of backup services for servers and personal devices.”
