A company called WobbleWorks has released a 3D printing pen that allows users to trace designs and build freeform sculptures and items.
According to the company, the 3Doodler will be sold for $75.
The pen, which operates like a hot glue gun, is a hand-held version of a 3D printer extrusion element with added heat shielding and an ergonomic grip. The company launched a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year to fund the commercial release of the product.
The pen uses ABS or PLA filaments. Shapes can be drawn in the air; more advanced structures can be created by drawing sub-components on flat surfaces, then combining them into larger items.
