Global Product Data Interoperability Summit Expands Technology Tracks

Parker Aerospace signs on as a sponsor.

The Boeing Company, Northrop Grumman, Parker Aerospace, and Elysium will hold the sixth annual joint Global Product Data Interoperability Summit (GPDIS) on Sept. 8-11, at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix, Ariz. The theme of this year’s Summit is “Preserving Product Data Quality through the Value Stream.”

The event is introducing a new sponsoring partner and two additional technology tracks this year.  Presentation abstracts are due by June 2.

Parker Aerospace, an operating group of Parker-Hannifin, has joined the GPDIS committee as a sponsor.

“Parker Aerospace’s participation will add valuable industry expertise and perspective to GPDIS,” said Ken Tashiro, vice president of Elysium and GPDIS organizer. “Going into the Summit’s sixth year, it remains critical to align industry standards in order to combat the data interoperability challenges that confront OEMs and suppliers everywhere.”

While Data Exchange, PLM, SOA, and M&QS have been the focus of previous Summits, new University and Systems Engineering tracks are being introduced for 2014. The University track will showcase innovative student work in the area of data interoperability. The Systems Engineering track will explore how common data standards can improve the design and management of complex engineering projects over their lifecycles.

“We are reminded that technology continues to march on and competition is ever present,” says GPDIS Chairman Terrence McGowan of Boeing. “Planning for common enterprise architecture is essential for OEMs to continue to stay competitive and build value. Finding the solutions in a fast-paced technology world can mean the difference between being prepared for opportunities as they arise, and struggling to keep up with ongoing customer needs.”
