Gerber Scientific (South Windsor, CT) has announced that it filed a patent infringement suit last December in Federal District Court in Hartford, CT against Roland DGA Corporation (Irvine, CA), the distribution and sales arm of Roland DG Corporation (Hamamatsu, Japan). Gerber’s patent, which covers equipment and a method for printing and cutting sheet feed material, was issued by the U.S. Patent Office in 1996 and was reconfirmed by the Patent Office in May of 2006.
Gerber is seeking damages of $30 million and an injunction against Roland’s sale of infringing products.
Roland plans to “aggressively contest and pursue all options against” the suit.
