Exa announced the release of PowerDELTA 2.0, an upgrade to its simulation platform. In addition to new functionality, PowerDELTA 2.0 has integrated Exa’s patented PowerCLAY real-time, studio-quality, mesh morphing technology, which the company says provides a single simulation mesh preparation platform.
PowerDELTA 2.0 delivers new interactive 3D capabilities to rapidly sort and organize thousands of components. With PowerCLAY morphing, engineers can produce parametrically driven, simulation-ready model variations directly within PowerDELTA. According to the company, this provides the parametric shape modification capabilities needed for automated optimization and design space exploration.
“The typical process of waiting for updated design iteration CAD models from component engineering or the design studio can take days or even weeks,” said Alexander Mackenzie, vice president of product management for Exa. “Morphing the simulation-ready model offers an alternative process that takes minutes and allows rapid simulation and analysis of many design alternatives. With PowerDELTA 2.0, engineering teams can efficiently use simulation to achieve deep understanding of the tradeoffs between design changes and performance.”
