ESI Group, a provider of virtual prototyping software and services, has released the latest version of VA One. The software offers a complete simulation environment for vibro-acoustic analysis and design. It combines finite element modeling (FEM), boundary elements modeling (BEM and statistical energy analysis (SEA) in a single model.
Version 2014.5 includes enhancements for usability, coupling with OpenFOAM CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software and support for advanced aeronautic materials. It also provides automated user assistance when setting up a large number of load cases.
The OpenFOAM CFD integration enables users to make predictions of design performance with the presence of stationary flow components. It also generates OpenFOAM meshing automatically and updates models with local fluid dynamics properties.
In addition to CFD enhancements, VA One includes updated SEA capabilities. The platform has new formulations to calculate vibro-acoustic response of structures fabricated with newer materials in the aerospace industries. The company also states that it has partnered with Rescale to provide built-in Cloud computing capabilities.
“The introduction of flow effects into FEA acoustics models enables GLSV to evaluate the installed performance of engine silencing systems more accurately and with a higher level of confidence,” said Steven Mattson, president of Great Lakes Sound & Vibration. “Because the CFD is integrated into the workflow, it allows us to perform multiple design iterations, including flow effects, in a short time frame. VA One 2014.5 provides a significant capability increase with the added functionality of flow effects.”
