Editor’s Pick: Efficient Creation of Digital Twins for Virtual Commissioning 

Maplesoft has developed a turnkey solution for creating digital twins for virtual commissioning. The solution is based on upgrades to MapleSim Insight and MapleSim, the company’s simulation family of products. 

The company says it now offers an approach to virtual simulation that is “highly accessible even to organizations that have no experience with modeling and simulation using digital twins.” Maplesoft also provides support services and offers to work closely with companies new to virtual commissioning. 

Maplesoft says new features in MapleSim Insight provide enhanced simulation-based 3D visualization and debugging capabilities, which connect directly to common automation platforms. The simulation engine runs faster than in previous versions, and there are new options for creating 2D plotting and 3D visualizations. 

Customers can use MapleSim Insight for real-time visualization and testing of machine control code. The company says the resulting visualizations can be used by non-experts, such as sales teams demonstrating customized hardware. 

“Most companies already understand they can save time and money in the long run by using digital twins in their product development,” says Chris Harduwar, vice president of Business Development at Maplesoft. “What stops them from going ahead, however, is the effort it takes to get started. The turnkey solutions from Maplesoft give companies a low-effort way to discover how digital twins and virtual commissioning can help them solve their immediate, practical problems, and no one has to learn how to build models unless they want to.”

In addition to new features in MapleSim Insight, Maplesoft offers customers full-service solutions for diagnosing, fixing and optimizing machine performance. MapleSim, the company’s multi-domain modeling and simulation tool, enables deployment of digital twins within the organization as needed, even for non-experts. MapleSim provides a single environment to model all key systems found in typical machine designs, including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. 

The new turnkey solutions from Maplesoft are now available alongside new releases of MapleSim and MapleSim Insight.
