e-con Systems Inc., an embedded product development company, has announced its support for Windows Embedded Compact 7 ported on its eSOM300 computer on module with device drivers. It is suited for for applications on platforms like digital signage, industrial controllers, handhelds and smaller footprint devices with multi-touch and gesture support. e-con Systems has the WinCE 7.0 beta version running on its Alioth development platform based on eSOM300 Computer on module.
When compared to WinCE 6.0, the latest of Microsoft’s WinCE7.0 brings in better user interface options with Silverlight 3.0 and Windows Embedded tools like multi-touch, custom gesture, Internet Explorer 7 with support for Adobe Flash 10.1 and simplified access to information through Exchange 2010 AirSync to transfer data between PCs to devices.
“With the announcement of WinCE 7.0 beta availability on top of the Alioth platform, e-con continues to provide the latest WinCE technology to its customers,” says Ashok Babu, president of e-con Systems. “As WinCE 7.0 is scheduled to launch in Q1 2011, e-con’s customers can get an early preview of Windows CE 7 on the Alioth platform, well before it is publicly available for general use.”
OEMs can benefit from the new capabilities of XScale PXA300 processor based development with higher processing power with WinCE 7.0.
