Infotech Enterprises GmbH (Leonberg, Germany), provider of digital design communication solutions, announced that together with the latest version 8.3 of SpinFire Professional, the new Draft Angle Analysis function is available. This plug-in, developed by Actify, enables users to examine if parts can be machined.
This adds an important functionality for moldmaking and tooling, states the release. Draft angles are used to make sure that a part can be released from the mold without distortion or damage. The draft angles must be large enough to allow the release from the mold but small enough to avoid altering of the geometry.
With the new SpinFire Draft Angle Analysis module, which is unique among CAD viewers, users have the possibility to control one or more parts in an assembly. The plug-in will give visual feedback on what level of draft angle has been applied to these surfaces when compared to a ‘pull direction’. With different color shades for the drafts, it is easy to see if the part can be machined.
Tooling concepts and manufacturing technology can already be checked in the development stage and prototypes and tedious verification can be eliminated.
