The modern business world relies so heavily on email to conduct business that people routinely spend an hour or more each day dealing with electronic communication. Email has made communication simpler and faster, but it can also be the source of headaches for small businesses. Time spent dealing with email is less time producing products.
This is particularly true with increased interest in additive manufacturing (AM). It’s easy for customers to send in 3D designs they’d like printed, but it’s the rare design that’s ready to go. DigiFabster is a cloud-based Front Desk system that has been developed to reduce time spent poring over emails and repairing digital designs.
Co-founder and CEO, Constantine Ivanov, relates the effect the system had for his company: “Before we used to get, say, 150 RFQs, only 15 of which we could quote, which would generate 10 orders. Now we get more then 350 RFQs, we quote 300 and get 160 orders. But the most amazing thing is that the percentage of repeat orders has doubled, which to me means that the quality of our service has gone up.”
DigiFabster can operate one of two ways. It can either be installed as a widget on a company website, or it can be directly linked through email. Either method allows potential customers to interact with the system to see if their design needs repairs and offer quotes on production. If repairs are needed, the system patches up the design before moving forward with the ordering process.
Internally, the system assists businesses with paper shuffling by tracking a variety of details, including billing. DigiFabster can also contact other AM service bureaus to provide assistance if the workload becomes too heavy for a single service to fulfill in a timely manner. Information is available wherever users happen to be, thanks to DigiFabster’s cloud-based architecture.
