Dell Launches Precision Appliance

The technology is suited for graphics-intensive workloads.

Dell has unveiled the Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse for graphics-intensive, workstation-class workloads. The technology is certified for independent software vendors (ISVs) such as Siemens PLM Software. The company states that platforms from PTC and other ISVs will be available in the coming months.

The Precision Appliance uses the Dell Precision Rack R7910 workstation, NVIDIA Quadro and GRID GPUs (graphics processing units), Teradici PCoIP remote workstation technology and VMWare. Users can connect to the appliance via quad display thin and zero clients, desktops, laptops and workstations.

“How people work today is rapidly changing. Our customers are looking at ways to be more mobile and collaborative without sacrificing performance or user experience. The Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse combines our expertise in both high performance workstation capabilities and virtual desktop infrastructure to provide organizations that use the most demanding, graphics-rich applications with a compelling solution for flexible work environments,” says Andy Rhodes, executive director of Dell Workstations.
