Dassault Systemes SIMULIA Releases 3D Simulated Heart

Dassault Systèmes is unveiling the “Living Heart Project,” the world’s first 3D realistic simulation model of an entire human heart at the SIMULIA Community Conference in Providence, RI, today.

Created in collaboration with simulation, cardiovascular, medical research and device manufacturing experts, this model will help initiate a new era in diagnosing, treating and preventing heart conditions. Engineers from Dassault used SIMULIA applications to create this comprehensive model that captures the heart’s electrical and mechanical characteristics.

This further launches an initiative for personalized heart simulations, which will allow medical professionals to treat patients without invasive diagnostic procedures. It may also lead to accelerated regulatory approval cycles, reduced development costs for medical devices, early diagnoses and customized treatment outcomes, a company press release states.
