Creaform (Levis, Quebec), known for its development of the Handyscan 3D lineup of self-positioning handheld laser scanners, announced the launch the ERGOscan, a laser scanner developed specifically for medical applications.
As a result of the handheld ERGOscan’s portable, self positioning design, the laser scanner has proven itself useful and efficient in the fields of orthotics, prosthetics and other medical and biomechanics industries. ERGOscan technology benefits the production of customized and perfectly fitted orthopedic devices by providing rapid shape acquisition with high measuring accuracy, in far less time than with other devices.
Range of applications that the ERGOscan has been used on include: orthotics/prosthetics to cranial scans, plastic/aesthetic surgery, podiatrics and wound care.
The ERGOscan is also useful in the custom manufacturing of artificial limbs or body part replacements; loaded/unloaded 3D digital impressions (foot imprints); treatment of positional plagiocephaly in infants; and 3D scanning of body parts in order to manufacture perfectly fitted and exact match prosthesis/orthesis or reconstruction.
Other benefits of the ERGOscan include laser-accurate measurement, a completely eye-safe laser (class I laser), and rapid data acquisition and file transfer. With its tolerance to slight movements, it is also a good solution for 3D archiving and an alternative method to casting. Visit Creaform for details.
