PTC (Needham, MA) today, November 13, announced the availability ofArbortext Content Manager, an expansion of its PTC Dynamic PublishingSystem. The Arbortext Content Manager is based on PTC Windchilltechnology and targets organizations authoring and managing complexpublications distributed and highly regulated environments. PTC saysthat “it is the industry’s first integral system explicitly focused onoptimizing the publishing process for organizations in thepharmaceutical, financial services, government, transportation andprocess manufacturing industries.”
PTC’s Dynamic Publishing System combines text authoring, graphicsauthoring, content and configuration management, automated publishing,and graphics visualization. It enables organizations to create contentout of XML-based reusable components, create illustrations from scratch orautomatically from design data, and automate the content management,review, and approval processes. Information can also be published inmultiple formats, languages and media.
PTC says that content management and graphics visualization arecritical components of its Dynamic Publishing System. The ArbortextContent Manager and PTC’s recent acquisition of ITEDO (click here forDE news story), the leader in the technical illustrations market, buildon the vision to enable organizations to create, manage and deliverhigh quality publications consisting of both text and illustrations.
The PTC Dynamic Publishing provides support for technicalillustrations, either created from scratch or based on CAD data, and itcan leverage the recently acquired ITEDO technical illustrationtechnology for fully associative dynamic document version control. Ithas the ability to assemble and to publish documents to all mediaautomatically, including print and electronic, from a single source.Other features include configuration and workflow managementcapabilities, integration with Microsoft Office, access and versioncontrol at a component level, and management of componentrelationships.
