Concurrent Systems Inc. Ltd. has announced the release of DDM 2011.1. The new program is intended to offer a single, secure hub for your information, optimizing the data from CAD and office applications. According to the company, the release of DDM 2011.1 focuses on four main areas: optimized usability and performance with minimal installation, improved supply chain data management and communication, global 24/7 access—via web portal (now optimized for smart devices), and support for the 32/64 bit version of mainstream CAD solutions.

Other features include a decision step added to the workflow to provide a mechanism for approval and other decisions by single or multiple users. The decision step also makes provision for web approvals for users away from the office. The Web Portal is intended to grant access to DDM wherever you are and in real-time. Also, the Bill of Materials Editor has been updated to assist with the management of parts, non-drawn parts and spare parts.

Additionally, a new transmittal function enables project members to notify each other (or team viewers) of new information relating to a project or notify a project leader that items in the folder need approval. The new folder team member functionality allows users to give restricted viewing abilities to others on a folder by folder basis. This includes the ability to ‘reserve to’ a folder within DDM and allows users to select the folder they want to reserve to from an ordered list.

The ‘reference to’ function is new to DDM 2011.1 and works in a similar way to the reserve to function with the additional ability of being able to reference to multiple folders. The program also includes new ‘save a copy as’ functionality, which has been added to the DDM save menu. This option allows you to save a copy of an item without automatically replacing the original parts in your session assembly.
