Centric Software Acquires Product Sight Search Technology

Centric Software, Inc.,(San Jose, CA) has acquired substantially all of the assets of ProductSight Corporation of Bellevue, WA, the developer of product data andenterprise search technology, according to materials received at DE. Centric, provider of OpenPLM for theextended enterprise, will immediately integrate Product Sight’s datasearch technology into its existing product line to offer solutionsthat leverage existing product data to resolve challenges common to allmanufacturers.

Centric InSight searches for information in multiple sources of productdata content and other enterprise data and classifies the results for aunified view of information sources. Centric MultiSight BOM managesglobal part and BOM data from multiple sources delivering different BOMviews to different teams in different locations, based on their roleand function in the product development process.

Centric Software’s product lifecycle management (PLM) program can nowsearch, classify, and connect to multiple MCAD, EDA, CAE, PDM, ERP,SCM, and document management systems for related pieces of productdata. The combination of search, classification, and connectivityprovides distributed product and project teams with automaticextraction and aggregation of real-time product and operational data,presenting cross-disciplinary information that enables more informeddecision making.

Centric InSight performs intelligent searches of structured orunstructured and unmanaged data including office documents and emailmessages, PLM, PDM, and ERP systems, and graphics and CAD files. Basedon the levels of security already internal to each system, end usersfrom the factory floor to executive offices can access and viewinformation in its native format, plus organize and share it withselected project team members.

Centric’s MultiSight BOM solution collects global part and BOM masterdata from multiple sources of interrelated product data and thenmaintains the data integrity for different BOMs used for differentpurposes, such as multiple manufacturing plants, test validation, anddifferences between as-ordered and as-built states. Further, MultiSightBOM facilitates interchange and reuse of parts in multiple assembliesand product lines.

All Product Sight employees were offered and have accepted positionswith Centric Software, according to the press announcement. They will continue to work from their Bellevuefacility.
