Caligari Corporation(Mountain View, CA) held the first public showing of its 3D design software,trueSpace7, at the 2006 National Design EngineeringExhibition during National Manufacturing Week in Rosemont, IL.
trueSpace7 is a 3D software application that features real-timecollaborative authoring technology, allowing remote product designteams to create, manipulate, and edit 3D objects within a sharedvirtual workspace over the broadband internet. Unlike traditional CADsoftware and other 3D authoring tools, says the company, trueSpace uses a real-timedirect manipulation interface where the controls themselves reside inthe 3D space.
trueSpace7 can be used in all stages of production, starting withconceptual design and ending with photorealistic or stylizedillustrations and animations. trueSpace allows users to output to anyprint or video media, as well as to 3D rapid prototyping machines. Itis designed to easily allow even new users to quickly master thecomprehensive set of modeling, surfacing, lighting, rendering, andanimation tools.
Features in trueSpace7 include real-time collaborative abilities thatlet designers enter into a collective space and share all trueSpace7tools; a new Link Editor that enables users to create procedural andinteractive animations and behaviors for simulations or training; andDirectX 9 pixel shaders, soft shadows, projector lights, glows,anti-aliasing, and physics simulation running in a high polygon scene.
Next generation Lightworks with HDRI capabilities; VirtuaLight whichsupports caustics; and the optional V-Ray rendering engine, known forits Global Illumination and fast production speed, are now integratedinto trueSpace7. Multi-pass rendering is now also a standard part oftrueSpace7. Price: $595.
