Autodesk PLM 360 Advances Internet of Things Development

Autodesk has revealed that Autodesk PLM 360, the company’s product lifecycle management service, is helping companies creating devices that are powering the Internet of Things (IoT).

By using PLM 360, customers are able to more efficiently design and manufacture a wide range of devices that range between hardware and software, the company states.

PLM 360 is designed to be simple and accessible. Customers simply sign up for a subscription and can configure the system using drag-and-drop.

Some of the companies that have recently implemented the PLM 360 platform include:

• SKULLY: A developer of intelligent vehicle systems, the company has created the first vertically integrated smart Heads Up Display motorcycle helmet for consumers.
• Automatic: This organization produces an automotive accessory that turns almost any car into a connected car. It is compatible with iPhone and Android and enables users to enhance their driving experience with a variety of connected services on the platform.
• Gimbal Inc.: This subsidiary of Qualcomm provides mobile technologies and solutions. It also offers geofencing, radio frequency identification, Bluetooth Smart beacons, location-based engagement for mobile devices.

“Companies in this fast-developing area are defining and creating the IoT,” said Brian Roepke, director of Product Lifecycle Management products at Autodesk. “At the pace they move, these companies rely heavily on cloud-based technology because they’re the only services that allow them to innovate quickly.”
