Aspen Labs and Digi-Key have teamed to provide engineers access to a new set of free, online CAD tools to support printed circuit board (PCB) design and development. Aspen Labs engaged with Digi-Key as an exclusive integration partner because of the company’s breadth of in-stock electronic components, Aspen says.
“Many of our customers indicated that they liked Scheme-It, but wanted a quality, low-cost collection of electronic design tools,” said Randall Restle, director of applications engineering for Digi-Key. “We saw great value in offering an industry-first suite of such cloud-based tools, and Aspen Labs has delivered an exceptionally easy-to-use PCB design product.”
PCBWeb is an online CAD application for designing and manufacturing electronics circuit boards, available at no cost. It aims to help engineers move projects from the earliest stages all the way through to a finished hardware design, ready to send off for production. It includes schematic capture, multi-sheet design support, PCB layout, a component editor, the ability to create symbols and footprints, and support for multi-layer boards with DRC.
“We are excited to offer this tool to hardware designers, and through our strong partnership with Digi-Key Corporation we’ve designed PCBWeb with an integrated parts library that exceeds what is available in traditional CAD tools,” said Cody Miller, president, Aspen Labs. “Our goal is to provide engineers with a complete manufacturing solution for electronics hardware from start to finish.”
