Aras Component Engineering Adds Electric Components to PLM Workflow

Features of the platform include automated workflows, preferred supplier status, end of life alerts and environmental compliance documentation.

Aras, a provider of enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM) software, has launched Aras Component Engineering. This platform connects the IHS CAPS Universe Electronic Component Data to the PLM platform for the engineering of new products and systems.

Aras Component Engineering was developed in partnership with IHS and embeds more than 100 million commercial electronic components for a single point of access to design, procure and sustain products with electronic components, a company press release states.

The platform provides users to complete, current technical data in addition to obsolescence and compliance information. Features include a Parametric/Filtered search, automated workflows, preferred supplier status, qualified parts status, product change notices, end of life alerts and environmental compliance documentation.

“We’re expanding the PLM process to include all phases of product development for systems engineering and enabling global manufacturers to innovate on their next-generation products,” said John Sperling, vice president of Product Management at Aras. “Aras Component Engineering is the latest example of how we’re taking PLM beyond the mechanical CAD file management most PLM systems focus on and into the enterprise and extended supply chain.”
