Altair to Open Source PBS Professional

Altair has stated that it will provide an open source licensing option for its HPC (high-performance computing) workload manager, PBS Professional. Scheduled to be released mid-2016, PBS Pro will be available for two different licensing options for commercial installations and as an open source version.

The PBS Pro HPC workload management technology originated from NASA’s Ames Research Center and was acquired by Altair in 2003. It is currently used for scheduling, management, monitoring and reporting on clusters and TOP500 owners.
