Altair has launched the latest version of HyperWorks, its CAE software platform. Version 13.0 is updated in four main areas, the company states. These are performance optimization, lightweight design, lead-time reduction and access to new technologies.
“This release of HyperWorks advances the most current trends in product design,” said James Dagg, chief technical officer of Altair. “With an even sharper focus on tools for the analysis and design of composite structures, it facilitates processes for the mass customization of products. HyperWorks continues to offer a broad array of advanced solvers enabling engineers to simulate a wide range of physics, from the analysis of linear and nonlinear phenomena in structures to fluid flow, thermal, and electromagnetic behaviors.”
For performance optimization, OptiStruct can now operate as a nonlinear solver, with improvements that enhance its functionality to simulate large displacement analysis and hyper-elastic materials. Users are also able to couple AcuSolve with MotionSolver for more accurate crack-propagation modeling results. RADIOSS furnishes more physics, and HyperStudy and OptiStruct offer Excel integration.
Pre-processing features have been upgraded to improve usability. New material laws and failure criteria for laminated composites and polymers as well as advanced methods for visualizing composite simulations are also available.
To enable lead time reduction, HyperMesh, HyperView and HyperGraph now feature a new unified Entity Editor that allows users to modify all parameters of model or post-processing session entities faster. The part-replacement tool has been completely rewritten, the company states. The application has also been revised for deployment of solution for industry-specific use cases.
Altair’s optimization technology is now a part of solidThinking Inspire, a package designed for FEA (finite element analysis). This platform allows for easy creation and investigation of structurally efficient concepts, as well as analysis and geometry simplification abilities.
