Kubotek Kosmos, a supply chain software provider, announces the 5.1 Service Pack release of the Kubotek Kosmos CAD Utility software products. This release provides updates to many CAD file translators, several options updates and a dozen fixes.
Improved Translators
The 5.1 releases of all Kubotek Kosmos CAD utility programs include updates to numerous CAD file formats. Dassault Systemes CATIA V5 support for reading 3D CAD files across all programs has been updated to the 2023 (R33) versions. Support for reading CATIA V5 drawings (View program only) has also been updated to the 2023 (R33) version. Siemens Digital Industries Software (DIS) NX 3D CAD format reading in all programs now supports the NX 2212 Series files. Support for reading NX drawings (View program only) has been updated to the 2212 Series as well. Siemens DIS Parasolid read has also been advanced to Version 35.1.
Opening of CAD files in View, Convert, and Revision 5.1 has been optimized for speed. Internal testing shows loading speeds are 40% faster than previous releases.
Minor Enhancements
An improvement has been made to the user interface related to an important compare option setting in Validate and Revision. Aerospace supplier quality standards commonly state that the “Typical allowable deviation tolerance is 0.0001 to 0.001 inch” or “Typical allowable deviation is 1/10th of the tightest engineering tolerance.” The label for the field that sets that critical comparison tolerance now includes the units symbol to make clearer to the user precisely what that number means.
Additionally, the compare tolerance units in Validate and Revision 5.1 are automatically taken from the units of the authority dataset (Validate) or Was dataset (Revision).
An export option for Parasolid files (X_T) has been added to Convert to allow control of the version of Parasolid used in the output file. This new setting allows for files to be written which will be readable in older versions of software programs (ie. SolidWorks 2017 or Mastercam 2020), which do not include support for the latest Parasolid versions.
