In September, Dassault Systèmes held the grand opening of its new 3DEXPERIENCE Lab at its headquarters in Vélizy, France (a suburb of Paris). In conjunction with the Dassault Systèmes´ accelerator program for startups, the new FABLAB can help facilitate and nurture product innovation by combining the 3DEXPERIENCE design, simulation and XR experiences with Dell Precision workstations professional NVIDIA GPUs, Dell UltraSharp monitors and other technology..

According to the Dassault announcement on LinkedIn:

“Our new FABLAB on the Vélizy campus is a professional and complete prototyping facility with a variety of resources for our startups and customers and … operates using Dell Technologies hardware. It’s a place where users have access to the full suite of Dassault Systèmes technology, including design, simulation and XR modeling solutions and it’s the ultimate place for Research & Design experimentation, product design, creation and execution, and for showcasing the power of 3DS brands and tools.”

This 11,000-square-foot facility on the company’s Paris campus offers “cutting-edge services like data intelligence, AI, virtual twins, and simulation, along with immersive tech and a FabLab that’s equipped as a professional factory,” according to Dassault Systèmes.

Dassault also holds an annual 3DEXPERIENCE Lab event called MESHMERISE to encourage innovation and collaboration with its network of startups, accelerators, industry leaders and universities. The fall event was in Paris, and featured a number of startups that utilize the Lab. You can watch part of the conference here.

Projects that have emerged from the program include everything from innovative prosthetics, drug design platforms, clean energy solutions, biosensors, and even a 3D encyclopedia for clockmaking. You can learn more about the projects supported by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab here.

Companies at the lab use Dell workstations equipped with NVIDIA GPUs for design, high end simulation, or VR/AR experiences, as well as digital fabrication capabilities – resources that many startups would otherwise not be able to access.

“This is a lab environment that they make available through their 3DEXPERIENCE for startups program where they invite startups with really interesting ideas that have an impact,” said Matt Allard, Director of Strategic Alliances, Commercial Client Specialty Computing Media and Entertainment, AEC, Design Engineering and Manufacturing at Dell. “[They] help early-stage companies build their ideas out and establish their business.”

Dell and NVIDIA also offer programs for startups (Dell for Startups and NVIDIA Inception) that are targeted at removing technology barriers so that these companies can innovate faster using the latest NVIDIA AI technology, Dell Technologies hardware, and their software applications of choice.

Dassault Systèmes operates 3DEXPERIENCE Labs in Boston, Munich, and Pune in India, in addition to their headquarters location in France.
