3D3 Solutions, a developer of 3D scanning technologies, will showcase the next generation of its High Definition Imaging (HDI) 3D Scanner and FlexScan3D Development Kit at RAPID 2010 in Anaheim.

“The best way to improve a product is to listen to your customers,” says Thomas Tong, president of 3D3 Solutions. “Hence our white light scanning systems have added features and enhancements that increase the efficiency of the 3D scanning process and the quality of the captured data.”

3D3 Solutions’ standard 3D scanning solution is the HDI 3D Scanner. Some of its enhanced features include:

  • New Split Scan mode: captures more data by scanning two sides of an object simultaneously and automatically merges the coverage area for complete scanning results.
  • Fast scanning speed with high resolution results: A single scan produces up to 2.5 million points (5 million polygons) in 1 to 6 seconds.
  • Supports automated 360 ° scanning with the rotary table system (sold separately): Instead of manually aligning and merging multiple scans of an object together, the rotary table supports automated 360 ° scanning and automatically aligns and merges the scans to form a complete model.
  •

3D3 Solutions has developed the FlexScan3D Development Kit specifically for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Included in the kit are different cameras and lenses for users to build their own custom 3D scanner. Over time, if there is another project that has drastically different scanning requirements, users can take their existing 3D scanner apart to create a new system at no additional cost.
