Accura 55 plastic, a new stereolithography material from 3D Systems, simulates the look and feel of molded ABS. The extremely low viscosity of Accura 55 improves prototyping productivity by increasing system uptime and reducing postprocessing labor, according to 3D Systems.

The material produces white ABS-like parts without molding or machining. The parts are durable enough for functional assembly tests. Applications include automotive interior components, short-run production parts, electronic components, functional testing, concept and marketing models, and master patterns for urethane casting.

“Accura 55 Plastic is a high-performance material designed to improve our customers’ bottom line by increasing productivity and reducing costs,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and CEO. “Engineers and designers who are constantly looking for engineered plastics’-like performance from their models and functional prototypes will be impressed by the quality and toughness of this revolutionary material.”

Customer Harvest Technologies plans to use Accura 55 plastic as the primary material for its new ViperT Pro SLA system to meet demand for rigid and durable models.

“These models are used by our customers for a variety of applications to simulate end-use, injection-molded ABS parts,” said Jason Morgan, Harvest’s stereolithography production manager.
