The Appro Ready-To-Go Cluster series from Appro International Inc. (Milpitas, CA) are engineered to be easy for entry-level users to purchase, deploy, and manage. Certified Intel Cluster Ready and optimized to run CAE applications from ANSYS (Canonsburg, PA), the Appro Ready-To-Go Clusters are pre-configured and pre-tested.
Appro Ready-to-Go Clusters are powered by Intel’s Xeon processor 5500 series at speeds of up to 2.93GHz. The 5500 processor offers a small, dense, and energy-efficient footprint that provides parallel processing performance for analyzing complex models quickly. The net impact, asserts Appro, is faster time to value and lower total cost of ownership.
Appro Ready-To-Go Clusters are also based on the Appro GreenBlade System, which accelerates small- to mid-sized ANSYS HPC deployments, according to the company. Appro’s GreenBlade System is an Intel Cluster Ready certified platform that helps bridge the gap between the application layer and the cluster solution infrastructure.
Appro pre-tests its clusters with Intel Cluster Checker software. This is said to help ensure application and component interoperability through out the lifetime of the system. Appro Ready-To-Go Clusters can also be scaled up as your computational needs grow.
The Appro Ready-To-Go Cluster series is available in configurations that support 4, 8, and 16 nodes (32 to 128 cores). Larger configurations are also available. Features include 24U half-height rack; support for two GreenBlade Systems; one DDR InfiniBand switch and one Ethernet switch for management/operational network; Gigabit, 10 Gigabit, or DDR InfiniBand external I/O interface; up to 768TB of DDR3 ECC total for compute nodes; and up to 96GB of DDR3 ECC memory for head nodes. System storage is provide by up to four 2.5-inch SATA or SAS with up to p to 500GB of local storage per compute nodes and up to 2TB of storage per head node.
Appro Ready-To-Go Clusters runsLinux and come with Intel Cluster Ready software as well as cluster management software installed. For complete details, visit the Appro Ready-To-Go Cluster series web page.
