At SIGGRAPH 2014, Thinkbox Software revealed Sequoia, a standalone tool for converting particle and point cloud data to geometry. The platform is tailored for applications within architecture, engineering and construction, the company states.
The application can create a single mesh from particles, vertex clouds or laser scan data. It is also compatible with Windows, OSX and Linux platforms. Other features of Sequoia include:
- Progressive workflows where results are returned before all the data is loaded.
- Flexible file I/O ensures data can be exported or imported in nearly any required format.
- Smoothing and decimation options for triangle count reduction on meshes.
- Options for coloring and texturing meshes for enhanced data visualization.
Sequoia is currently in development and its beta version is expected to be available in early 2015.
