Pointwise Furthers CFD Meshing, 2 in a Series

By DE Editors

After four years of development, Pointwise, Inc. has released the Pointwise solution, what it calls next-generation meshing software designed to reduce the time needed to create high-quality CFD meshes.

Using its flat, intuitive graphical interface,  Pointwise provides shortcuts through the meshing process that include a new automated assembly procedure to build 3D volume grids from a jumble of grid components with a simple click of a button. Pointwise’s usability is enhanced by a customizable multiple-level undo and redo capability.

In addition to new meshing tools, Pointwise offers a new interface and interaction model as well as unified geometric curve and grid-curve drawing, simultaneous transformation of CAD geometry and grid,  improved CGNS support including import, and the ability to access up to 16 Exabytes of memory with its 64-bit architecture.

The software, which run on Windows (Intel and AMD), Linux (Intel and AMD), Mac, and Unix, generate structured, unstructured, and hybrid meshes that let engineering analysts address the challenge of mesh generation for CFD; the software also interfaces with FLUENT, STAR-CD, and ANSYS CFX as well as neutral formats.
