Microsoft Azure to Offer GPU-Accelerated Performance

NVIDIA has stated that Microsoft will offer professional graphics applications and accelerated computing abilities with NVIDIA GPUs (graphics processing units) for the Azure cloud.

Microsoft is deploying the latest NVIDIA GRID on its N-Series virtual machine offering. The N-Series, according to a company press release, is the first cloud computing platform to provide GRID 2.0 for enterprise customers.

With GRID on Azure, business can deploy Quadro-grade graphics through on-premise computing, the cloud or a hybrid model. Supercomputing-level performance will also be available through the Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform.

“Our vision is to deliver accelerated graphics and high performance computing to any connected device, regardless of location,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft Azure to give engineers, designers, content creators, researchers and other professionals the ability to visualize complex, data-intensive designs accurately from anywhere.”
