Launch of MotorSolve with Thermal Analysis Announced

Infolytica to release new module by fall 2010.

Infolytica to release new module by fall 2010.

Infolytica Corporation announced plans to include an extensive thermal analysis module in the next release of MotorSolve, which is due out by fall 2011. With this latest addition, it will be possible to evaluate the impact of temperature and different cooling methods on the performance of brushless, PMAC and induction machines.

The thermal analysis module is intended to reduce costs by enhancing the accuracy of the existing result computations by accounting for heating and cooling on performance as well as offering new temperature related outputs. Designers can determine the impact of different cooling methods on how the motor will perform.

MotorSolve uses a FEA engine to perform coupled thermal-magnetic simulations which, according to the company, ensures a higher degree of accuracy compared to analytical methods, particularly when calculating end winding temperature and heat flow.
