IAV Automotive Engineering, an engineering services firm, will showcase its technology for global mobility at the 2014 World Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems in Detroit. Within its display will be the organization’s demo vehicle equipped with its Highly Automated Driving (HAD) technology.
The demo vehicle is certified to perform at Level 2 automation, according to the National High Traffic Safety Administration. This means IAV is showcasing automated driving technology that is two or three years ahead of production, according to the company. The demo drive for attendees will demonstrate engagement in the driving mode, and removing hands off the steering wheel and foot off the pedals at the same time.
Additional Technology on display from IAV includes:
- Automotive Ethernet: an application for infotainment and driver assistant uses.
- Mobility Cube: an analysis instrument used to tackle mobility issues and analyze data along the mobility chain
- Car-to-X Traffic Light System: a system that assists cars by displaying the speed at which a traffic light can be passed while in green and red modes.
- Special Vehicle Assistant: a vehicle cockpit application for emergency responders.
